Japan Fun Fest. June 1, 2013, north - Celebrate and learn more about Japanese culture and traditions with dance, presentations, a tea ceremony, Japanese language mini-class, and Japanese film. Attendees are encouraged to dress in traditional Japanese attire. Japan Fun Fest


Annual Texas 4000 for Cancer ATLAS Bike Ride. June 1, 2013, south - Ride 25, 50, or 70 miles through the Texas countryside and end at the Pillar Bluff Vineyards for BBQ and live entertainment. Rest stops and mechanical assistance provided. This is the first day of a 70-day ride made each year by a University of Texas student-led cycling team to Anchorage, Alaska to promote cancer awareness and patient support. Hogs for Dogs Scavenger Run. June 1, 2013, southeast - A motorcycle scavenger hunt with trophies and Harley-Davidson gift cards for top three finishers. Lunch provided at the end. Proceeds benefit Austin Pets Alive! Hogs for Dogs Scavenger Run


Athleta Iron Girl Austin Triathlon. June 2, 2013, southeast - This event for women of all ages and fitness levels features a 1/2-mile swim, 12-mile bike ride, and 3-mile run in a supportive environment. Patagonia Austin Free Yoga Class. June 5 - 26, 2013, downtown - Every Wednesday evening, a free Vinyasa-based Yoga class is offered for both beginners and advanced students. Patagonia Austin Free Yoga Class


ATX Television Festival. June 6 - 9, 2013, downtown - Celebrate the past, present, and future of television programming with screenings, panel discussions, Q&A sessions with actors, writers, directors, creators, and other industry professionals, as well as meet-ups, parties, and live music events. Texas Swing. June 8, 2013, north - Party Texas style with BBQ and dancing to live music by Texas bands. Also a raffle of two Southwest airline tickets. Texas Swing


Austin Pond Tour. June 8 - 9, 2013, various locations - Sponsored by the Austin Pond Spciety, this is a self-guided tour of various private ponds that people have installed on their property around town. Ponds come in a wide range of sizes and styles, from classic to quirky. Austin Pond Tour

Juneteenth Celebration. June 8 - 23, 2013, various locations - Juneteenth, also called "Freedom Day" or "Emancipation Day", is the oldest known African American event commemorating the end of slavery in 1863. Juneteenth Austin is an extravaganza spread over two weeks that includes a scholarship pageant, 2K run/walk, parade, historical presentations, multi-church gospel celebration, and a park party with food vendors, exhibits, live music, and kids' area. Texas Boys State. June 9 - 14, 2013, central - Respected, interactive, American Legion-sponsored program where selected high school students are exposed to the operation of local, county, and state government. Texas Boys State

Blues on the Green. June 12 - August 7, 2013, south - Every other Wednesday from June 12 - August 7, 2013, meet up at Zilker Park to listen to live performances by regional blues artists. Austin's largest free concert series. Blues on the Green

Nature Nights at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Thursday evenings June 13 - July 25, 2013, southwest - Thursday nights during the summer, the Wildflower Center offers free admission, auditorium presentations, nature hikes, and kids' crafts. Bluebonnet Girls State. June 16 - 22, 2013, central - Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, this interactive program gives selected high school students a hands-on experience with the operation of local, county, and state government. Bluebonnet Girls State

Keep Austin Weird Festival + 5K. June 22, 2013, downtown - This unique event combines several things that Austin is known for: art, music, self-expression, and physical fitness. The afternoon features a family-friendly arts and crafts fest with art vendors, food stands, and live bands. Celebrando Salsa & Jibaro Festival. June 22, 2013, east - Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy Salsa dances with authentic bands and instruments, in the best Puerto Rican mountain traditions. Food vendors and a local art sale are also included.

Hill Country Galleria Independence Day Celebration. June 29, 2013, west - Hill Country Galleria presents a free Independence Day celebration, directed by the creators of the Old Pecan Street Festival. Celebration includes carnival rides, a petting zoo, water slides, and splash pools. Also over 120 art vendors, food vendors, and food trucks. Live music by local bands. Celebration concludes at night with a fireworks display.
