Austin Cactus & Succulent Society Fall Show & Sale. August 31 - September 1, 2013, southwest - A plant show and sale featuring cacti and succulents from the southwest U.S. and around the world. Austin PRIDE Week. September 1 - 8, 2013, various locations - Sponsored by the Austin Gay & Lesbian PRIDE Foundation, PRIDE Week features a lake party, parade, 5K run, and festival with nationally known guest speakers and entertainers, food and drinks, games, and activities. Austin PRIDE Week


Free Day of Yoga. September 2, 2013, various locations - Since 1999, participating yoga studios around town offer free classes allowing people to try yoga for the first time, experience a new instructor or style of yoga, or share yoga with family or friends. Free Day of Yoga


Tri Rock Austin. September 2, 2013, central - The Austin stop in a multi-city triathlon tour. Features a swim in Lady Bird Lake, a closed-course bicycle ride, and a run along the lake. Tri Rock Austin


Tour de Cure. September 8, 2013, northwest - A bicycle ride fundraiser for all ages to raise money for the American Diabetes Association. Routes range from 11 to 93 miles. Tour de Cure

The Color Run. September 14, 2013, east - The "Happiest 5K on the Planet" is a fun, unusual, family-friendly 5K run/walk where you pass through several stations and get "painted" in various colors. Raises funds for cancer-related causes. The Color Run

Bridal Extravaganza. September 15, 2013, downtown - A huge event featuring fashion shows, prize drawings, and exhibits by hundreds of professionals and companies in the wedding and associated industries. Bridal Extravaganza

Diez y Seis Celebration. September 16, 2013, east - A celebration of Mexico's Independence Day, with music, food, costumes, and dancing. Diez y Seis Celebration


Fantastic Fest. September 19 - 26, 2013, multiple locations - A celebration of film and chance to enjoy screenings of films from various genres including horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and action from all over the world. The largest genre film festival in the U.S. Several hit movies had their world premieres here and past guests have included Bill Murray, Dolph Lundgren, and Bill Pullman. Fantastic Fest


CASA Superhero 5K Run. September 21, 2013, north - Run a 5K while dressed as your favorite superhero. A kids' 1K is also available. Benefits an organization which advocates for abused and neglected children. CASA Superhero 5K Run

Museum Day. September 22, 2013, various locations - Austin has a lot of interesting museums, and one day each year, over 25 of them offer free admission with special exhibits and displays. Museum Day is a long-running Austin tradition. Museum Day


Car2Go Marathon Relay. September 22, 2013, downtown - A six-person marathon relay wherein each team member runs a 4.3 mile course. Car2Go Marathon Relay


NAMIWalk. September 28, 2013, downtown - A 5K walk and fundraiser. Benefits an organization that advocates for people with mental illness. NAMIWalk


Texas Craft Brewers Festival. September 28, 2013, east - An exhibit and sale of craft beer by local independent breweries. Event is sponsored by the Young Mens Business League and benefits Sunshine Camps for at-risk and disadvantaged youth. Texas Craft Brewers Festival

Austin Jazz Festival. September 29, 2013, southwest - Sponsored by the Austin Jazz SOciety, the festival brings together regional jazz artists and fans to celebrate and show appreciation for this musical art form. Austin Jazz Festival

Be the Change volunteer project. September 29, 2013, multiple locations - Coordinated by South Asian Americans Leading Together, this is a city-wide day of service. Over 1,000 volunteers work on 25+ service projects. The name is based on Gandhi's famous quote, "Be the change you want to see in the world", and the annual event occurs around his October 3 birthday. Be the Change Austin


House of Torment. Various dates late September through early November, north - Regularly voted one of the top haunted houses in the nation. It's actually three haunted houses in one 20,000 square foot location. Check website for dates. House of Torment
