The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is dedicated to protecting and preserve North America's native plants and natural landscapes. Founded in 1982 by former First Lady Claudia Alta "Lady Bird" Johnson and actress Helen Hayes, the center has become one of America's leading research institutions and advocates for native plants and landscapes. The center features 12 acres of wildflower gardens, a gift shop and cafe, and regularly holds educational and outreach programs for the Austin community.
