Features

Canyon Creek is located on former cattle ranching and hunting land. It became a residential community starting in the late 1980s and was completed in 2005. Today Canyon Creek has wide streets, well-tended lawns, and a relatively secluded location but still close to shopping malls, restaurants, and outdoor recreation.

The neighborhood is conveniently located next to two major thoroughfares, Hwy. 2222 and 620, which lead to the rest of the city and west Austin. Boulder Lane crosses the entire neighborhood and connects to Hwy. 620 at the north and south entrances. The highways offer direct commuting access to downtown, and to the high-tech companies in north Austin.

Canyon Creek has abundant open green space. Large sections of Canyon Creek are protected areas for wildlife. The neighborhood has two parks, Homeowners Association Park and Trailhead Park. The neighborhood also borders Balcones Canyonland Preserve.

There are two community centers with an Olympic sized pool, children's play area, basketball and volleyball courts, soccer fields, and a meeting pavilion. For golfers, Woodland Greens Golf Center and River Place Country Club are close by.

Just down Hwy. 620 is 333-acre Four Points Centre, which contains a shopping mall, supermarket, retail stores, and restaurants. Additionally, Lakeline Mall is under four miles away, and three major supermarkets are under two miles from the neighborhood. A new cinema along with restaurants and shops are being built at the south entrance to Canyon Creek.

The neighborhood has access to two highly regarded school districts, Round Rock and Leander. An elementary school was built in the neighborhood in the mid-1990s. There are also good private schools in the area, and Concordia University has a campus nearby.

Canyon Creek is only 10 to 15 minutes' drive from both Lake Austin and Lake Travis, enabling residents to spend the day or the week camping, boating, and fishing.

The neighborhood has a diverse upper-middle class population of East Asians, Asia Indians, and Caucasians. Many work in downtown Austin or in the high-tech centers of north Austin.
