Features
Comanche Trail is a neighborhood of about 6,000 people and 250 homes built along the banks of Lake Travis. The neighborhood was established in 1946-47 with 44 homesites on the lake. That was followed in the next decade with more homesites built on the hills overlooking the lake.
Many of the initial homes were weekend homes for Austinites and others who lived in the area. Eventually all of the weekend homes were replaced or expanded into full-time residential homes. New construction in the area has continued to the present. About a quarter of the homes are waterfront property, but nearly all homes have lake views. Most of the homes are nestled among the hills and woods above the lake.
The neighborhood is close to Hwy. 2222 and 620, two major thoroughfares in west Austin. It is also close to local country clubs, and restaurants and shopping are nearby in Bee Cave and Cedar Park. Just to the east is Four Points Centre, a 333-acre commercial site that contains shopping, a supermarket, restaurants, retail stores, and medical offices.
