River Place Neighborhood Guide

Summary

River Place is a newer neighborhood located in a scenic spot in the Texas hill country. Although River Place does not have as many shopping and dining venues as some other neighborhoods, it has abundant green space and many options for outdoor recreation. Many homes have expansive views of the hills or green spaces in the neighborhood.

Residents have access to parks, miles of hiking and bike trails, a marina on Lake Austin for water recreation, and a golf course. The neighborhood is just off a major local highway for direct access to the rest of the city.

Features

River Place is a place for residents to be somewhat near the city, but able to get away from it all and be close to nature. With just over 1,000 homes, large sections of the neighborhood are on wilderness preserves or open space. Many homes provide good views of the surrounding hills and the golf course.

There are two parks in the neighborhood for walking, picnicking, or playing. The parks include barbecue grills, ball fields, and kids’ playscapes. Residents have access to a private marina for swimming, boating, waterskiing, and other activities on the lake.

Within the neighborhood are many walking and bike trails. The community was built to surround the River Place Country Club, which is the centerpiece of the neighborhood. There, residents can play a round of golf or take lessons, make use of the driving range, or play tennis. The country club also features a fitness center and massage facility, swimming pool, and dining room. The club serves as a community center for many resident social events.

The University of Texas Golf Course is also close to the area. For shopping, four major shopping centers,  Four Points Shopping Center, the Arboretum, The Domain, and the Hill Country Galleria are a short drive from the neighborhood.

The neighborhood is close to Hwy. 2222, a major west Austin thoroughfare that provides access to the rest of the city. Downtown is about 20 minutes’ commute.
