Features

South Manchaca (pronounced "Man-shack") is considered a desirable neighborhood by many because of its convenient location (just a few minutes from downtown, access to highways), family-friendliness (parks and schools in the area), and relative quiet (far enough away from downtown).

South Manchaca is a family community; the majority of residents are in their mid-twenties to mid-forties, own their homes, and are married couples, about half with children. The population is working class and somewhat less ethnically diverse than other neighborhoods close by.

The neighborhood borders Hwy. 71 to the north and offers easy access to the shopping centers, chain stores, and restaurants along the highway. The atmosphere here is peaceful and the neighborhood's location makes it a quick trip to the attractions of central and west Austin.
