West Lake Hills is a small, suburban neighborhood in the Texas hill country near Lake Austin. It has abundant trees, woodlands, green space, hills, and hiking and bike trails, and is near Lake Austin and a wildlife preserve. However it is also close to shopping and dining and 10 minutes drive from downtown.
The neighborhood is next to Bee Cave Rd. and Hwy. 360 (Capital of Texas Hwy.), two main thoroughfares in west Austin, offering easy access to the city. There are many local shops and restaurants nearby, and several major shopping centers are close by.

Although an Austin suburb, West Lake Hills is actually a separate town, with its own city commissions and police and fire departments. The area is coveted for its tranquility and convenient location. The area is heavily wooded with plenty of green space and offers good views of the hill country.
The neighborhood offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and the natural scenery. Along with its local hike and bike trails, the neighborhood is adjacent to the Wild Basin Wilderness Park and close to Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve. Additionally, Barton Creek and Zilker Park are not far away. The neighborhood takes pride in its natural beauty and residents work actively to preserve the neighborhood's environment.
Residents also appreciate the sense of community provided by being a small, close-knit, largely independent neighborhood. There are many locally-owned stores, businesses, and eateries around the neighborhood. Residents are 10 minutes' drive from the dining, shopping, and nightlife of downtown and south Austin.
Homes start in the $300K range and most are built on at least one acre of land. The neighborhood is popular among professional families, retirees, and empty nesters who want to be close to the city but able to go home and get away from it all.
