Zilker Park Barton Creek

Zilker, considered Austin's most-loved park, is a combination park, recreation area, and outdoor performance venue. In addition to acres of green space with trails suitable for hiking and biking, Zilker has two multi-use playing fields, a nine-hole disc golf course, a playscape suitable for various ages, and several large picnic areas with a concession stand nearby.

Zilker is also home to Barton Springs Pool, a three-acre pool fed by natural springs that keep the water at a constant 70 degrees year-round.

Just across from the pool is the Zilker Hillside Theater, an outdoor amphitheatre that hosts a variety of musical and theatrical performances each summer and fall for the Austin community.

Near the pool and theater you can hop a ride on the Zilker Zephyr, a miniature train that traces a path through part of the park. You can also rent a canoe or kayak for a leisurely paddle along the creek.

Within the park are also three well-known Austin museums: the Austin Nature and Science Center, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, and the Zilker Botanical Garden.

Some of Austin's most popular events are held on the park grounds, including the Zilker Kite Festival, the Trail of Lights and Holiday Tree, and the Austin City Limits music festival.

Zilker Metropolitan Park is administered by the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Visit the park website to see hours of operation, maps, and policies.
